Purpose & Mission

The Racial Equity Bridge Team (REBT) exists to create a network of people within a predominantly white Cooperative Parish, dedicated to amplifying the voice of BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of color) within and beyond our walls - in all matters that impact our congregations. This includes guiding, educating, coordinating, and providing accountability within our congregations to proactively dismantle racism.

Vision

The REBT believes that our Cooperative Parish can embody a vision where racism and all forms of discrimination, bigotry and prejudice will be replaced by an all-inclusive spirit of sisterhood and brotherhood.

Goals

Our overarching goal is to be an advocate for all people who have been racially marginalized within our church, and within their communities.

  1. Mission engagement through Fiesta Cristiana
  2. Education and awareness
  3. Building relationships and community organizing
The Apex UMC Cooperative Parish (4 congregations) have collectively made the decision to become 4 independent churches. Although the congregations are independent, church leadership across all churches are committed to continuing the important community-facing ministries. The Racial Equity Bridge Team (REBT) was a vision of love and justice birthed out of the Fiesta Cristiana Mission congregation. The work of Fiesta Cristiana and Racial Justice are inextricably linked. Therefore, the REBT will continue to operate as part of Fiesta Cristiana. Thank you in advance for your patience as we re-envision membership, vision, and engagement for 2022+.
